USPS did not introduce a new, 2021-dated Global Forever stamp design. The round pink Chrysanthemum Global stamp, issued in 2020, remained the most recent design through 2021. USPS followed it with African Daisy on March 14, 2022.

Which design did people use in 2021?

Chrysanthemum is the clearest match when “2021 Global Forever stamp” means the current Global design available that year. It shows a pink chrysanthemum photographed from above on a white background. William J. Gicker served as art director; Greg Breeding designed the stamp using Hong Vo’s photograph.

Older Global designs could also remain valid in personal holdings or the resale market. USPS ordered the Green Succulent Global stamp withdrawn from regular postal retail sale after June 30, 2021, but retail withdrawal did not invalidate genuine unused examples.

Why there is no 2021 issue date

Global Forever stamps are not replaced every calendar year. Their printed year identifies the issue, not the only year in which they may be used. USPS issued Chrysanthemum in 2020 and described African Daisy as the newest Global stamp when it arrived in 2022, leaving no newly issued Global design between them.

What did one Global stamp cover in 2021?

A Global Forever stamp covered one qualifying First-Class Mail International one-ounce letter or postcard to a country where that service was available. The retail price rose from $1.20 to $1.30 on August 29, 2021, but an authentic unused Global Forever stamp continued to cover that qualifying service after the increase.

Can a 2021-era Global stamp still be used?

Yes. A genuine unused stamp marked “Global Forever” retains the current one-ounce First-Class Mail International letter value. Destination, dimensions, shape, weight and service restrictions still matter, so use the current USPS international price calculator when the mailpiece falls outside the basic letter or postcard conditions.

Identification checklist

  • Global Forever stamps are round and carry the words “GLOBAL” and “FOREVER.”
  • A pink flower viewed from above is the 2020 Chrysanthemum, not a 2021-dated issue.
  • An orange flower is the 2022 African Daisy.
  • A green rosette-shaped plant is the 2017 Green Succulent.
