Hawaii Forever stamps are USPS issues whose subject has a clear connection to Hawaii’s people, landscapes or culture. That is different from ordinary postage used to mail a letter to Hawaii and different from a stamp that merely happened to be issued there.

Haleakalā National Park — 2016
The National Parks centennial pane includes a photograph by Kevin Ebi showing late-afternoon sunlight and a rainbow over the Haleakalā crater. USPS described the park as a place where volcanic landscape, Hawaiian culture and rare species meet.
Nāpali Coast — 2018
The O Beautiful series includes a photograph by Tim Delavega of waves and sunset light along Kauaʻi’s Nāpali coast. The design is one scene within a national landscape set, but its subject is unmistakably Hawaiian.
Waimoku Falls — 2023
The Waterfalls pane includes Waimoku Falls in Haleakalā National Park, photographed by Quang-Tuan Luong. It is the clearest current product connection on this site: the Waterfalls Forever stamp listing contains the complete 12-design pane rather than Waimoku Falls alone.
People and Civic History
Title IX and Patsy T. Mink — 2022
The four Title IX stamps show female athletes rather than a portrait of Patsy Mink. The Hawaii connection is civic: Representative Mink was the principal author of the section of the Education Amendments of 1972 that became Title IX. This issue belongs in a Hawaii guide as a documented historical connection, but it should not be described as a “Patsy Mink stamp.”
Hawaii Stamps That Are Not Forever Stamps
Some well-known Hawaii subjects fall outside this guide’s Forever-only boundary. The 2009 Hawaii Statehood surfing stamp carried a printed 44-cent denomination, the 2010 Hawaiian Rain Forest pane carried printed 44-cent values, and the 2012 Aloha Shirts designs were issued for postcard postage rather than as ordinary Forever stamps. They can be valid postage, but they are not interchangeable labels for the issues above.
What Does Not Count as a Hawaii Theme?
- A stamp issued at a ceremony in Honolulu when its subject is unrelated to Hawaii
- An ordinary U.S. flag or floral stamp used on mail addressed to Hawaii
- Historic Hawaiian Kingdom or territorial stamps
- A marketplace listing that uses “Hawaii” only as a destination or seller location
