Reviewed September 12, 2026. USPS Pears stamps include more than one fixed-denomination issue. They are not ordinary Forever stamps, so each copy must be identified by year, denomination, format and condition.

Verified versions

Version Denomination Value rule
1995 Pears 32 cents Fixed 32-cent postage value
2016 Pears definitive 10 cents Fixed 10-cent additional postage
2017 pane-format addition 10 cents Same printed 10-cent value; verify format

See the USPS 2016 issue announcement and current USPS Pears product record.

Postal value

A 10-cent Pears stamp contributes 10 cents toward required postage; a 32-cent version contributes 32 cents. Neither automatically rises with the ordinary Forever rate.

Limited collectible evidence

One ended eBay listing recorded a single Scott 5039 Pears stamp at $0.99 and described it as MNH, F/VF, original gum and ungraded, with three sold shown on the page. This is one version and one seller-provided condition record. It cannot establish the value of every Pears issue, a pane, or a future market.

How to evaluate a Pears stamp

  1. Read the printed denomination.
  2. Identify the year and Scott number if available.
  3. Record single, pane or coil format.
  4. Assess gum, centering, perforations and damage.
  5. Compare completed sales for the same version and condition.

The issue is not automatically “must-have” or rare. Value requires evidence, not promotional wording.
