What the Design Shows

Each letter in “HAPPY” draws from a different party decoration, with multicolored ribbons and confetti completing the scene. Rodolfo Castro created the digital illustration and designed the stamp with Lisa Catalone Castro. Ethel Kessler served as art director.

Best Uses

Birthday cards, party invitations, thank-you notes, and save-the-date mail.
Family, classroom, customer, and employee birthday correspondence.
Mailers who want one recognizable birthday design repeated across a larger mailing.

Postage Value

A genuine unused 2021 Happy Birthday stamp remains valid for the current one-ounce domestic First-Class Mail letter rate. The 2021 issue date does not freeze its postage value. Cards that are square, rigid, unusually thick, or heavier than one ounce may require additional postage.

2021 Design or 2026 Design?

This page is for the 2021 confetti-and-lettering issue. USPS released a different Happy Birthday design in 2026. If the issue year or artwork matters, compare the product images and see the 2026 Happy Birthday Forever stamps before choosing.
