What the Diwali Stamp Shows
The design uses Sally Andersen-Bruce’s photograph of a lit traditional diya against a sparkling gold background. Diyas are small lamps commonly made from clay, with a cotton wick fueled by ghee or vegetable oil. Greg Breeding designed the stamp, with William J. Gicker as art director.
Festival Background
Diwali, also called Deepavali, is known as a festival of lights and is associated with the triumph of good over evil. Observances vary by community and region and may include lighting diyas, rangoli, prayer, meals, sweets, gifts and gatherings. USPS also notes that Diwali is observed in Hindu, Jain and Sikh traditions. The stamp recognizes the festival without changing the postal purpose of the product.
USPS Format vs. This 100-Stamp Set
| Unit | Quantity | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Original USPS pane | 20 stamps | The official single-pane format |
| This listing | 100 stamps | Five complete 20-stamp panes |
The 100-stamp total is this retailer’s bundle quantity, not a separate USPS 100-stamp issue. Current price and availability appear in the live product area above.
Mailing Use
One genuine unused Diwali Forever stamp covers the postage value of a standard one-ounce First-Class Mail letter under the current domestic rate. A heavier, oversize, square, rigid, nonmachinable or international mailpiece can require additional postage. The design does not create a special holiday-mail service or alter delivery speed.
For a finished envelope, use the Forever stamp postage guide before mailing.
Who This Listing Suits
- Mailers who want a Diwali or festival-of-lights design.
- Households, organizations or businesses that expect to use 100 ordinary Forever stamps.
- Buyers who prefer complete 20-stamp panes rather than loose singles.
If your need is a smaller quantity, a different holiday, international postage or collectible condition, compare the exact format before ordering.
How to Check What You Receive
- Confirm five intact panes with 20 stamps per pane.
- Match the single diya-on-gold design and 2016 issue identity.
- Keep the order record and original packaging.
- Do not treat a first-day cover, canceled example or reproduction image as unused postage.
