The Giving Tree Design

The stamp centers on Silverstein’s familiar black-and-white drawing of the story’s boy reaching to catch an apple. A photograph of the author appears in the background. This is a single-design issue: every stamp in each pane carries the same Literary Arts composition.

About the Honoree

Shel Silverstein was an author, poet, illustrator, songwriter and playwright. USPS linked the stamp specifically to The Giving Tree; the issue should not be treated as a visual catalog of all his books or other creative work.

How the 100-Stamp Quantity Is Calculated

USPS issued the stamp in panes of 20. This retailer bundle supplies five complete panes:

5 panes × 20 stamps = 100 stamps.

The price and inventory shown above apply to the full five-pane bundle.

Who This Design Suits

Readers, writers, teachers, librarians and book clubs.
School, literacy and publishing correspondence.
Fans of The Giving Tree and Silverstein’s illustration style.
Mailers who want one consistent literary design across a larger batch.

Postage Value and Mailing Use

These are ordinary Forever stamps. A genuine unused stamp covers an eligible domestic First-Class Mail one-ounce stamped letter at the current rate. A heavier, square, rigid, oversized or international mailpiece can require additional postage. Literary or collectible interest does not change the postal value.

Official Issue Record

The USPS Shel Silverstein release confirms the Literary Arts context and The Giving Tree artwork. The Postal Bulletin announcement confirms the pane-of-20 format.
