Issue and Listing Facts

Adult Elephant and Calf Artwork

Rafael López’s fanciful digital illustration shows a gray adult elephant bending toward a young calf. Stylized plants, a purple flower and an orange sun create a warm family scene. USPS presented the interaction as a reflection of the affectionate nature of elephants.

The issue was released on World Elephant Day and dedicated in Hohenwald, home of The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. That context supports conservation awareness, but the stamp itself is ordinary Forever postage rather than a fundraising semipostal.

Mailing Use

Each genuine, unused Elephants stamp remains valid for the current one-ounce First-Class Mail letter rate. One stamp covers an eligible domestic one-ounce letter; heavier, oversized, square, rigid or international pieces can require more postage.

Use the postage decision guide when your mailpiece differs from a standard letter.
