What the 20 Stamps Show

The pane moves across animal, plant, fungal and microscopic life. Its labeled images show red blood cells, a macaw feather, knotted human hair, moss leaves, diatom shells, freshwater protozoans, an acorn barnacle, a moth antenna, a diving beetle foot, mouse-brain neurons, starling bone tissue, Madagascan sunset moth wing scales, a juvenile zebrafish, mushroom gills, a freshwater snail tongue, a blue button, mold spores, barnacle legs, flame lily pollen and the surface of a southern live oak leaf.

Five Complete Panes, Not 100 Identical Designs

USPS created one pane containing 20 different images and specified that the commemorative pane was not to be split for individual sale. The 100-stamp option on this page therefore represents five repetitions of the complete 20-design set. Choose it when you want visual variety across science-themed correspondence; do not expect 100 copies of a single microscopic image.

Mailing Use

These unused ordinary Forever stamps remain valid for the current one-ounce First-Class Mail letter rate, regardless of the 2023 issue year. Extra postage is required when a finished piece exceeds the applicable weight, size or machinability rules, or uses another service.
